Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken. Why? Because at LSD you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water and become more confident in your skills as a diver knowing that you can help others if needed. During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature. Plus, the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning. Here are 5 reasons why we feel you should do this course.
One – Increased Awareness
Rescue divers are trained to see the bigger picture and to step in and prevent minor issues before they develop into serious ones. Your eye becomes trained on things that most people would not spot like someone diving with too much weight, someone rapidly breathing underwater or someone struggling on the surface with an un-inflated BCD.
Two – Life Saver
By the end of the Rescue you will have learned all the skills you need to rescue a life. That is an incredible statement but true. Should you find yourself in a situation where your dive buddy or someone else diving in your group has an underwater emergency you will feel confident enough to offer aid and put into practise all that you have been taught.

Five – Next Stop is PRO
A lot of Rescue Divers they have their focus on the next step of the PADI ladder which is the professional Divemaster Course. The Rescue course arms you with techniques beyond the basics and readies you to become a PADI PRO. They are separate course but have so much in common when it comes to developing leadership skills and being that person who jumps into action when the call goes out for help.
